Though we don’t recommend wrapping it and placing it under the tree, there are many ways to incorporate bison into your holidays. It makes a great gift, is easy to ship, and tastes delicious in so many recipes. Here are our tips and tricks for making the meat a staple this season.
Why bison?
Bison is lean, packed with protein, and a great nutritional choice for keeping friends and family fed during the holidays. When you opt for TenderBison, it’s also a sustainable and humane choice. We partner only with ranchers who are passionate about regenerative ranching and treat their herds with respect, so you don’t have to do any second-guessing. It’s also USDA-tested and free from hormones, stimulants, and antibiotics.

Winter bison recipes
Whether it’s for a family gathering or a night in, comfort food tastes better during the holidays. Reimagine your favorites and make them extra nutritious by opting for bison instead of other meats. Here are some perfect recipes to try this winter.
Christmas Pot Roast:
Start a new tradition by bringing a bison roast to this year’s Christmas dinner. Roasting bison “low and slow” brings out the meat’s flavor, making it one of our favorite ways to prepare it.
Hearty Bison Chili:
Our chili is great to share or save for leftovers. Whip some up and enjoy with your favorite toppings.
Bison Lasagna:
Put a twist on your average lasagna with bison! Plus, if you’re traveling to festivities this holiday season, it’s an easy dish to prepare ahead of time and transport. Just bake it wherever you’re celebrating.
Gift it
Bison makes the perfect gift for the avid chef or grill master in your life. Simply ship it to loved ones using our easy online ordering option. Fresh bison is a great gift on its own, but if you want to really impress, add something you can wrap! A personalized apron, gourmet salt and pepper, or a cookbook with a handwritten note would make great pairings.
Where to buy it
You can order TenderBison through our website or our Amazon shop, making it simple to buy online. We offer many cuts to choose from, but first, brush up on the parts of the bison with our handy blog.
If you have any questions or want to locate TenderBison retailers nearby, you can fill out our “where to buy” form and we’ll help you.
How to ship it
One of our missions is to make quality meat more accessible, which is why we offer shipping. Having the bison sent straight to your door is more convenient than making a trip to the butcher –– and you’re also supporting family ranches and sustainable farming practices when you do so.
When you order your bison online, we carefully pack it in an insulated box straight from our refrigerated warehouse and ship it to you frozen using UPS 2-day service. Your order is kept fresh with reusable gel ice packs that maintain temperature for up to 48 hours.
TenderBison takes food safety seriously, so we pack orders Monday-Wednesday to ensure your package won’t get delayed in shipping. All orders received Thursday-Sunday get held to be packed the following Monday. Tracking information is always provided, making it easy to keep a close eye on your package.
